Chain Conveyors

Robust transport of heavy loads – proven in demanding industrial environments with high load capacity and long service life.

What is a chain conveyor?

A chain conveyor transports heavy and bulky loads using continuous conveyor chains, on or to which the goods are attached or placed. Thanks to the high tensile strength of the chains, it reliably transmits high forces and is particularly suited to demanding industrial environments.

Applications and use cases

Chain conveyors move heavy workpieces, pallets, containers or assemblies wherever roller conveyors or belt conveyors reach their load limit. They have proven themselves in the automotive, metal and wood industries — wherever high loads need to be moved over longer distances or even outdoors.

Thanks to their robust construction, chain conveyors are also suitable for use under demanding conditions — such as heat, dust or contamination, where more sensitive conveying technologies wear out faster.

Configurations and dimensioning

Depending on the application, we supply chain conveyors as single or double-chain designs, with support rollers, carriers or special workpiece carriers. We dimension chain pitch, drive power and frame construction to match the load weight, cycle time and section length of your plant.

For particularly demanding environments, wear-resistant chain materials and enclosed drive units are available, ensuring a long service life even under heavy use.

Why choose Tomasic for your chain conveyor

We dimension chain conveyors according to the load weight, cycle time and environmental conditions of your plant, and supply them either as standalone units or as part of complex conveying lines with multiple transfer points. From design through manufacturing to commissioning, the chain conveyor is built as a tailor-made solution for your specific material flow.

Frequently asked questions about chain conveyors

What loads can a chain conveyor carry?

Chain conveyors are designed for significantly higher loads than roller or belt conveyors, since the conveyor chains transmit high tensile forces. The exact load capacity depends on chain pitch, chain material and frame construction, and is dimensioned individually for your goods.

When should I choose a chain conveyor instead of a roller conveyor?

A chain conveyor is the right choice once the weight, size or environmental conditions of the goods exceed the load limits of a roller conveyor — for example with heavy pallets, assemblies, or use under heat, dust or contamination. We advise you during the design consultation on which conveying technology best fits your specific application.

How robust is a chain conveyor in continuous operation?

Chain conveyors are considered particularly robust and durable, since power transmission via the chain is mechanically less prone to wear than with other conveying systems. With appropriate chain material selection and maintenance intervals, they achieve a long service life even in multi-shift operation.

Can a chain conveyor be used outdoors?

Yes, thanks to their robust construction, chain conveyors are generally also suitable for use under demanding environmental conditions. For outdoor use, we adapt chain material, drive enclosure and corrosion protection to the respective weather conditions.
